Brandon Bolden Back in Practice Tuesday

OXFORD, Miss. — Brandon Bolden returned to practice Tuesday, giving Ole Miss hope that its most explosive weapon might be on the field in time for the Rebels’ Southeastern Conference opener.

Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said Bolden didn’t go through the entire practice Tuesday and said he won’t know whether the senior running back will be available for Saturday’s opener at Vanderbilt until Thursday or Friday.

“It’s great to get Brandon Bolden back on the field again,” Ole Miss offensive coordinator David Lee said. “He’s been our leader all summer when the coaches weren’t around. He came into this season so prepared, so ready and he was heartbroken here two weeks ago. We are so excited. It means a lot to our football team just having him on the practice field with us.”

Bolden suffered an ankle injury _ Ole Miss officials called it a fracture _ in the second quarter of the Rebels’ season-opening loss to Brigham Young on Sept. 3. He did not play this past weekend in Ole Miss’ win over Southern Illinois.

Another senior running back, Enrique Davis, practiced Tuesday as well, though Nutt said Davis’ rehabilitation from a hyper-extended knee suffered against BYU is “slow-going.”
